An recent article by Jami Oetting on HubSpot.com cites the following reasons big brands choose small agencies (note: we already knew all of this but its nice to have it reaffirmed):

  1. They’re moving to in-house marketing departments and need partners.
  2. They want to hire the very best specialists.
  3. They want fast results.
  4. The want people who are both strategic in marketing and tactically skilled to handle the whole project.
  5. They want people who “solve the client problems first” vs meet their own brand objectives.
  6. They want relationships with creative, positive work cultures.

According to the article:

“We have worked with agencies of all sizes and what we have found is that smaller agencies tend to become part of your marketing team — they get ingrained in your company’s DNA,” said Abby Lee, VP of marketing at RE/MAX. “They are more interested in your business and helping it evolve and grow than they are interested in using it as a vessel for awards and accolades. And yet they are the ones that have created the most compelling and effective creative we have seen.”
